Case Study: CBC Video2Web for Soccer Nation

In celebration of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, CBC went on the road across Canada. The CBC Soccer Nation campaign was a travelling soccer festival visiting various soccer events in summer.

Features of this cross-Canada Caravan Tour included:

• the CBC Zone, including a Sports Broadcaster desk where participants can call a World Cup play on video
• a centre soccer pitch where festival goers can test their soccer skills
• a Sponsor Zone that included several interactive soccer games and prizes to be won
• The CBC Video2Web Booth was set up, allowing consumers to choose the soccer clip they wish to narrate, then watch and rehearse or follow script/freestyle of the video play-by-play. Contestants are then videotaped and provided with a PIC card. They visit the CBC Soccer Nation website, type in the case specific pin number, watch a pre-reel introduction and are able to watch the recorded video in high definition. Pretty cool hey

Tenzing contribution to the project:

Tenzing Interactive built and maintained the CBC Soccer Nation website. This website contained the login for photo retrievals and also included links to local soccer associations, providing a useful network for soccer fans.

How Video2Web Works:

Tenzing’s Video2Web works essentially the same way as Pics2Web campaigns. Both Pics2Web and Video2Web can use green screen technology to create an interactive customer experience. Participants either have their picture taken or record a video and visit a website to retrieve their video/picture. Customers visit the website, enter case-specific information and are offered other unique business incentives or promotions while on the site.

This experience creates unique branding potentials between the client and consumer and well as tremendous social media extension for fun and entertaining videos to be shared.

Cross Canada distribution – more than 2000 video captures with a high retrieval rate.
